JUDGMENT LIENS AFFECT ON TITLE: If you were wondering whether a credit card debt can affect title to real estate or property, I am here to confirm that it does. In Florida, a certified judgment filed in the public records of the county where your real estate property is located automatically is a lien on said property. However, the state of Florida does offer some protection against judgment liens. One protection afforded in the Homestead protection. Please note that this is not the same as the real estate tax Homestead exemption. Homestead protection from a judgment lien must be judicially determined or publicly established through the public records. In other words, it is not an automatic protection.
